We run to raise awareness for melanoma. Our slogan is “Know your moles!”. Moles are often the most visible areas where we see melanoma. They can be cancerous and deadly at times. Melanoma is the silent killer. We want people to understand what their moles can mean! But be aware! Moles are not the only sites where melanoma can develop.

Secondly, we run to raise money for the Melanoma Research Foundation. The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is the largest independent organization devoted to melanoma. Committed to the support of medical research in finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma, the MRF also educates patients and physicians about prevention, diagnosis and the treatment of melanoma. We also give back to the community. We offer scholarships to eligible high school seniors at Mabel Canton and Spring Grove. Recipients are required to submit an essay with facts about melanoma, how it affects them and how to prevent melanoma for themselves. We sponsor the summer rec programs, provide sunscreen to needed populations, and have allocated funds to families stuck by tragedy or hardships.
